“THE GREAT RACE”

Hebrews 12:1-2

There are many kinds of races in this life.  The race for success, fame, recognition, political positions, power, athletic titles and trophies.  Today we look at a spiritual race.

Exciting results and eternal rewards are promised for those who finish this race well.

LAY ASIDE EVERYTHING THAT WOULD INTERFERE WITH THE RACE:

1.      The good things that can hinder

2.      The bad things that can hurt

LOOK TO JESUS ALWAYS FOR ENDURANCE TO FINISH THE RACE:

1.      Jesus is our model

2.      Jesus is our motivation

“FAITH FOR THE FUTURE”

II Timothy 1:5-7

One of the greatest gifts we can give the next generation is biblical faith.  A mother’s faith can have eternal effect!

A PERSONAL FAITH IN GOD IS THE GREATEST NEED FOR EACH GENERATION

1.      Personal faith is individual

2.       Personal faith is identical

Our personal faith in Christ brings freedom from the guilt of our past and freedom from the fears of the future.

A PERSEVERING FAITH  IS CONFIDENT THAT GOD IS IN CONTROL

1.      An anchor for the soul in the storms of life

2.      The anticipation of victory

A POWERFUL FAITH IMPACTS THE FAMILY AND THE WORLD

1.      By faith we stand against the devil

2.      By faith we serve God

3.       By faith we share Jesus with others

“FAITH MATTERS”

James 2:14-26

Faith is the key doctrine of Christianity!  Does it matter what kind of faith?

James identifies two kinds of faith that affect our lives here and hereafter.

1.      A defective faith that is unable to produce a lifestyle that glorifies God

2.      A dynamic faith that produces visible evidence and public demonstration

of  a personal decision to trust Christ

“THE CROSS CONNECTION”

II Corinthians 5:21

The crucifixion of Christ is not just a historical event to be remembered.  It is a personal expression of God’s love to be received.

The pursuit of God’s love is evident in the incarnation    God made the first move, He came to you.

The price of God’s love is expressed in the intervention of Jesus – He died for you.

The power of God’s love is experienced in the involvement of Christ in your life.  He understands you.

The presence of God’s love is enjoyed by the indwelling Christ.  He relates to you.

Do you have a divine connection with God?  It’s your move.

BLINDNESS to God's PEACE in Life

A POWER WORTH EXPERIENCING    II Kings 5:2-3

“PRAYING FOR SOMEONE’S SALVATION”

Romans 10:1-4

“Believers are to pray for and witness to all unbelievers, knowing that God will faithfully save those who believe in His Son.  God’s redemptive program is not one-dimensional.  To isolate God’s sovereign choice from the believer’s personal faith is to foolishly and presumptuously separate what God has united.  A theology that does not reflect genuine, heartfelt compassion for the lost and a deep desire for their salvation is a theology that is unbiblical.”       -John MacArthur

PRAYING WITH PERSONAL PASSION.

PRAYING WITH PATIENT PERSISTENCE.

PRAYING WITH PROFOUND PURPOSE.

PRAYING WITH POINTED PERSPECTIVE.

          Recognizing the problem:

1.      Insufficient knowledge of God’s righteousness.

2.      Inappropriate behavior of pride.

3.      Insubordinate attitude to God’s will.

4.      Incomplete action of faith.
